Sailing the Sea of Cortez
Inspired by Butch Florey, owner of Tradewinds Sailing club, we took a trip to La Paz, the capitol city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, affectionately known as 'baja' to most gringos. In December of 2007, with a crew of six, we sailed the islands north of La Paz for a week.
Highlights of the trip included trading with fisherman on remote islands, spectacular sunsets, successful fishing and snorkeling with friendly sea lions!
We hope to revisit this beautiful area someday. Jacques Cousteau rightly called the Sea of Cortez "the world's aquarium". Seemingly desolate deserts preside over waters rich with life. This juxtaposition,
along with a wide variety of anchorages within easy reach of one another, make the area perfect for cruising.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
